Sustainable Technology Project
Description: This project was the culminating assignment for my Technology and Leadership course. Here I introduce a solution to one of the biggest and most common problems that arise and that is parent/teacher/student communication. Clear communication between the teacher and parent is essential for student growth and learning both in and outside the classroom , especially at home. This solution is economically sustainable and user friendly for all parties involved. |

Podcast : Audio Interview Project
Description: This project was a part of my Psychology of Learning in School and other Settings course in which we learned how to provide a powerful audio experience with basic software and equipment that is free and/or low cost that everyone can use. This experience provided me with the opportunity to learn and be able to create a audio interview with another person to begin to understand other people's understanding about a certain topic. Here I was able to provide an audio production that will give an audience a clear understanding of thinking and leaving them with a powerful experience to that insight. |
Digital Storytelling Project
Description: This project another powerful use of technology using digital storytelling to provide a powerful learning experience for an audience by combining the art of storytelling and multimedia technologies to create a powerful educative experience. Here we created a digital story that told the tale of a group of students struggling to learn a concept and their eventual success. In m digital story I showed how differences in students' previous understanding and how differences in strategies to teach the students affect what and how something is learned. |
Literacy Learner Analysis Case Study
Description: This project was the culminating assignment for my Accommodating Differences in Literacy Learners course. I want to focus this study on being able to teach a student how to be strategic that will help improve his reading comprehension ability. It is not all the teacher’s prompting of what strategies to use and when, but the student’s ability to pull from their own strategies that they embody as they read. Rather than focusing on strategies that teachers often use to improve comprehension, the goal is to attempt to teach readers to be strategic by creating a learning environment that promotes independent strategies freely chosen by the reader himself. In other words, instead of focusing on the individual skills that make comprehension better, create an environment where the student is both strategic and reflective of his own self. This idea is based on Almasi’s strategy instruction model(2003) which include cultivating a learning environment that highlights the following key ingredients as a means of cultivating a culture that values the learning process: (1) context, (2) agency/metacognition, and (3) scaffolding(258). The whole reasoning why I want this project to focus on the transformational view of reading comprehension strategies instruction is because I believe this method can be better applied and prove just as effective or more than other perspectives because it constitutes knowledge through embracing multiple ways of knowing which is created and attained by the reader himself. Also, differentiated instruction is supported in this transformational view. The student is empowered to know when and how to use certain strategies to best meet their needs within a given context. |
Design Project: Motivating Sam
Description: This project was the culminating assignment for my Developing Positive Attitudes Toward Learning course. For this project we had to design a plan to help motivate a learner who had a motivation problem. My approach and goal with this learner was to change this student's perception of ability with regards to learning and achieving mastery of a student. Strategies to achieve this goal included variation in instruction, having one-on-one's with him, goal setting, personal self-evaluations, and creating a mutual and positive bond with him that emphasized caring for his best interests. Experience from this work provided me with understanding how to motivate and get a student to do something they normally don't want to do through focusing on them as individuals and focusing efforts on the learning process and the relationship with the individual themselves. |
Professional Development: Tier 3 Intervention
Description: This project was the culminating assignment for my Leadership and Organizational Development course. Here we were provided as a group with the task of creating a professional development plan to help a failing school in which test scores and previous attempts have failed to meet expectations. My part in the project included presenting the Tier 3 level of intervention in regards to attributing to the RTI framework of the school. This project gave me knowledge and experience in how to organize and present solutions and strategies to others such as I would in a school as part of a leadership team or administrative role. |
Citizenship: Creating a "Values-Explicit" Social Studies Lesson Plan

The theme in this particular part of the course was Citizenship and we had to create a lesson plan based on teaching Citizenship while fulfilling explicit values of citizenship and making it appropriate to the right student audience.
